Right Side Pain
Right Side Pain
Right side pain can be avoided in many cases as long as you warm up and stretch prior to working out. However, they are taken for granted by many individuals who are attempting to improve their health by engaging in physical activities.
A pre-workout practice can play a critical role in preparing the body for the various physical exertions that will follow. Having proper warm-up and stretching routines before workouts may decrease the chances of developing injuries like sprains, strains and spasms.
For example, a right side groin pull, which can cause right side pain, can be avoided with proper precaution and preparation.
Sprains, strains and spasms can be painful and long lasting and are common in people who fail to engage in pre-workout activities and over-train. Because of these injuries and the pain and discomfort they bring, there are many right side pain relief products on the market designed to treat individuals suffering with these various conditions.
However, if more of us take time to warm-up and stretch, the use of these products and the development of injuries might be lessened.
People who workout and people planning to begin a fitness program should remember that stretching and warm-ups are two different things. Do not mistake stretching as the warm-up phase. Stretching is a part of the warm-up routine, but stretching alone is not the warm-up.
The term warm-up is a light-aerobic and cardiovascular activity that is done before stretching. It is usually a slower-paced version of the activity that is about to be done.
For example, five to ten minutes of brisk walking could be done before jogging or running. Warming up is important because stretching cold muscles may cause injury and do more harm than good. It may improve the level of performance and enhance the recovery process that is needed before training or competition.
Combine stretching and warm-up activities to avoid that right side pain and all the other possible discomforts associated with exercise.
Lower Right Back Pain
Lower right back pain
Lower right back pain is not pleasant at all and can be caused from several different strenuous activities.
Here’s an example:
When a young novice working out in the gym for the first time starts out with a routine including the bench press, arm curls, crunches, and bent-over rowing—all without consulting his trainer or instructor—he will most likely have soreness all over his body after the workout. Even worse, he may suffer from muscle or tendon strain from overdoing his work-out program. Starting out slowly and gradually increasing the routine is a better way to go.
A strain is a stretching or tearing of muscle that often occurs when muscles suddenly and powerfully contract — or when a muscle stretches unusually far. This is called an acute strain. Overuse of certain muscles can lead to a chronic (reoccurring or long lasting) strain. The most common of these type ailments are hamstring and back injuries, which can present as lower right back pain for example. Some people commonly call muscle strains “pulled” muscles.
For a strain, you should seek medical help immediately if the area becomes swollen and is intensely painful, or if you suspect a ruptured muscle, broken bone or other serious damage. Mild sprains and strains usually heal quickly with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (R.I.C.E.).
Often times, self-care measures and over-the-counter pain medications, such as muscle relaxants, are all that you’ll need for a healthy recovery with manageable discomfort. Muscle relaxants are usually prescribed along with rest, exercise, physical therapy and other treatments.
Although the drugs may provide relief, they should never be considered a substitute for these other forms of treatment. Drugs may make the injury feel so much better that you are tempted to go back to normal activity, but doing too much too soon can actually make the injury worse.
Remember, take it slowly and gradually increase activity as your body allows without discomfort and further damage. Allow that lower right back pain to subside before hitting the weights again.
Right Side Pelvic Pain – Could it Be a Hernia?
For Martin, the first indication that not all was normal was the reoccurring right side pelvic pain.
A visit to the doctor confirmed that Martin was indeed correct. Something was out of sorts inside his body. He had a hernia.
When an internal body part pushes into an area where it is not designed to reside the result is a hernia. In some cases, a person may notice a lump or bulge on his body, signaling the presence of a hernia. This area may be tender and swollen. You might think there would always be significant pain associated with this condition, but sometimes there is little or no pain associated with this abnormal occurence.
These injuries are for the most part found in the abdomen. The body has a natural corset or restraining material that keeps the internal organs in place. This material is actually muscle and tendon that extend from the ribs to the groin.
When this protective restraint is compromised at any location an organ can push out into another area and create a bulge, and thus you have a hernia. There different types of these injuries.
• Inguinal hernia—the intestine or bladder pushes through the abdominal wall or into the inguinal cavity in the groin. These account for about eight out of ten hernias and most often occur in men. Incisional hernia—intestine pushes through the abdominal wall at a sight that was previously compromised by surgery.
• Femoral hernia—intestine pushes into the femoral artery canal and into the upper thigh
• Umbilical hernia—small intestine pushes through the abdominal wall near the naval
• Hiatal hernia—stomach pushes through the hiatus opening of the diaphragm.
Once this condition is diagnosed, treatment will depend on the severity and location of the hernia.
Martin’s right side pelvic pain was caused by an inguinal hernia.
Side Neck Pain, Stretch Out the Tension
These days, every third person has a job in which a computer or a laptop is a must. This has helped millions of companies achieve great productivity but at the same time workers often complain about pain: neck side pain, front neck pain, shoulder pain, right side pain and on and on.
In this environment, it becomes vital to perform some exercises for neck and shoulder muscles. There are some easy, less time consuming and effective stretching exercises for your neck and shoulder that can help a great deal in relieving stress.
Start with the below exercises to help you to forget the phrase – pain in the neck.
• You can either sit or stand with your arms resting at your side and then turn your head on one way. Hold this position for 30-45 seconds before rotating your head toward the other way. Do eight-10 reps on each side.
• Here’s another good stretching exercise for your neck. As you raise your neck from the down position, slightly turn it backwards such that you can see the ceiling of the room. Do eight-10 repetitions. Instantly you will get relief from your neck ache.
• Another useful neck stretch consists of tilting your head towards your shoulder. Move your head from one shoulder to the other and do it eight-10 times.
You could do the above three exercises at an interval of two to three minutes. For those suffering from Spondylitis and other similar health conditions, consult your doctor before beginning the above stretching exercise.
When you are suffering from an ache in your neck, you are bound to have some ache in your shoulder muscles, even if not, why not relieve the tension from your shoulder muscles also. Follow these basic shoulder stretching exercises for which you just need to dedicate 10 minutes.
• Shoulder Rolls – Roll your shoulders in a circular motion, slowly and gently. Repeat in the opposite direction.
• Shrugs – Elevate both shoulders and hold them for 15 seconds. Breathe out and relax. Repeat 10 times.
• Side Stretch – With both hands upward and fingers facing the sky, clasp hands together. Slowly, lean to one side and hold for 15 seconds. Repeat on the opposite side. Perform this stretching 10 times on each side.
Now, aren’t you feeling good? It’s fun to stay fit.
Side Foot Pain – Dealing with Sprains
In a basketball game, it is not uncommon for a player attempting to make a layup to be encountered by an opponent seeking to block the shot. The players will often make contact, causing them to land on one another. The collision can be violent enough to cause injury. Injuries often located in the lower extremities.
In the above scenario, a player may land awkwardly and suffer a leg sprain or ankle or knee sprain. Ankle sprains are the most common basketball injuries and often occur when a player lands on another player’s foot or the ankle rolls too far outward. This can lead to side foot pain.
A sprain is a stretching or tearing of ligaments or joint capsules that connect one bone to another and stabilize joints and prevent excessive movement. More often, sprains occur when a joint is forced from its normal range of motion, by rapid changes in direction or by a collision. Common locations for sprains are the ankles, wrists and knees.
Muscle relaxants work quite well for relieving muscle pain related to injuries, but are not effective for many other types of pain, such as the side foot pain mentioned earlier if it is related to joint damage. Muscle relaxants do not heal injuries, but they do relax muscles and help ease discomfort and stop muscle spasms.
Since sprains vary in severity, treatment depends on the severity of the injury. To treat a sprain, keep the joint still. A short period of immobilization will go a long way in helping the ligaments heal.
After healing has taken place, try some special exercises to strengthen the muscles that help hold your ankle in place. If your muscles and ligaments are not strong enough to prevent re-injury, you might need surgery to repair the damage and restore its function.
Another key to speedy recovery is an early evaluation by a medical professional. Once the injury has been determined, a treatment plan can be developed. With proper care, most sprains will heal without long-term side effects.
The Rotator Cuff and Shoulder Pain
Without question, Pedro Martinez is one of the best players to ever throw a baseball in the major leagues. He has won more than 200 games in his career, a milestone that all but cements is induction into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. He has won three Cy Young Awards. This award is given each season to the top pitcher in each league. He was an instrumental part of a World Series winning team.
In 2006, the pitcher began having shoulder pain and his career was put in jeopardy because of a rotator cuff injury. These are three words that no professional athlete wants to hear, especially a pitcher. Considering that the human arm is not designed for the over-handed motion involved in throwing a baseball, it is not surprising that shoulder wear occurs disproportionately in baseball hurlers.
The rotator cuff muscles hold the shoulder bones together and are involved in the delicate movements of the shoulder. Throwing a baseball falls into this category. Of course, athletes are not the only people who experience this injury.
If you go to the doctor because of shoulder pain, he may test your rotator cuff. First he will ask you about the trauma that created the pain, if indeed it stems from a trauma. He will also enquire as to your history with discomfort in this area, and he will ask questions about your profession and hobbies to determine whether they make you more vulnerable to this type of problem.
A physical exam may be administered to see how well the joint is working. This will include movements to demonstrate range of motion and strength. An x-ray may also be taken to check for visible damage.
Imaging tests such as an MRI, ultrasound or, in rare cases, an arthrogram may be used to aid in coming to a diagnosis. Surgery is sometimes necessary to repair the shoulder and in other cases physical therapy is sufficient.
By the way, Martinez chose surgery, and had a successful return to the pitcher’s mound.
Avoid Left Sided and Right Sided Pain Associated with Kidney Stones
Pain associated with kidney stones can present as left sided or right sided pain, depending on which kidney is involved and the position of the stone. Whether it is right sided pain or left sided pain, it can be intense.
From many patients we have heard what works best for kidney stones. Their advice is first, and above all, to drink lots of water. If you do not drink enough water your urine becomes more concentrated, making you more prone to develop new kidney stones. Here are some other tried-and-true tips:
• Avoid stress (as if that’s easy!) Kidney stone patients are very often under unusual stress.
• Avoid alcohol and sodas. They dehydrate you.
• Drink corn silk tea to flush the kidneys. Another helpful beverage is catnip tea with apple cider vinegar.
• Drink aloe vera (It’s sold in health food stores.)
• If your kidney stones are calcium-related, lemonade helps to absorb the calcium.
• Walk, walk and walk. Prolonged body movement helps to move the stones out. We call this “the tough way.”
• Be sure to have your thyroid and parathyroid checked. In some cases there is a connection.
How to prevent kidney stones in general:
1. Again – lots of water. This means eight 8-ounce glasses, and twelve glasses if you work outside. If your urine is smelly, you are probably not drinking enough water, and are at risk for a urinary tract infection (UTI).
2. Take vitamin C – 2,000 mg. a day.
3. No sodas or alcohol. If you do partake, for every glass of beverage drink an extra glass of water.
4. Work to strengthen your immune system.
5. Check your family history. Did any of your parents or grandparents have kidney stones? Get the story and learn from there lifestyles what not to do.
6. In Chinese medicine, the kidneys represent fear. To counteract any fear, try this positive affirmation: “Water flows freely through me, making me safer.” As you repeat this affirmation regularly, try to sincerely feel its significance. Visualize it as a reality, not just words.
What You Need To Know About Hernia Girdles
Hernias occur when there is a rupture in the abdominal or groin muscles and a protrusion results, which can be very uncomfortable and noticeable as well. Both men and women can experience hernias. Surgery is the only way to correct this problem, but there are undergarments that can be worn until surgery takes place. These garments will not only make the protrusion less noticeable, but they will also afford you some support and comfort until the hernia is taken care of through surgery. And you may want to continue wearing a hernia girdle for a short period of time following your surgery, just for the continued support that it will give you until you are completely healed.
Hernia girdles, or medical compression girdles, can be somewhat expensive but are well worth the price for the comfort and reassurance they provide. And besides giving support for your hernia, there are other benefits you will receive from wearing this type of garment. You will not only look slimmer, but your lower back will also feel better from the extra support that it is receiving.
Medical compression garments work very well for both men and women. You will experience instant relief when you are wearing such a garment. They are made of strong, high-quality materials that will give you all of the support you need to go about your daily duties in reasonable comfort. And you will have the added assurance of knowing that your hernia is well concealed, even when you are wearing tighter fitting clothing.
Your doctor may prescribe a certain type of garment for your specific condition. Or he may give you guidelines to follow and allow you to make the final decision as to the garment that will give you the most comfort and support. Shop around and check out different hernia girdles before you come to a decision as to the one you want for your needs. This garment will be giving you much needed support throughout the time period before and right after your surgery, and you want the assurance of knowing that you have chosen the proper garment for the job it will be performing.
When you have chosen your girdle, do not feel embarrassed about wearing it. Your girdle is serving a very useful purpose, and you will have the support you need until surgery takes place and your hernia is no longer a problem.
Right Side Stomach Pain: Could It Be Kidney Stones?
Working as an emergency room RN, Jane has seen many people suffering from kidney stones. About 80 percent of the people she encounters with this condition are men. We don’t know why the numbers are so much higher for men.
Jane says the patients often have lower abdominal symptoms that may presents as right side stomach or flank pain on one side. She says that the soreness these individuals feel is intense.
“We first ask them for a urine sample,” she explains. “Using a dip stick the nurse typically finds blood in the urine, often with hardly any infection (though there may well be infection, and often the presence of ketones, a sign of dehydration). The patient is then given intravenous fluids (salt water) to help flush the kidneys, and after the doctor’s formal diagnosis, pain medication also. The aim of the pain medication is to give the patient a rest as the fluids help the stones pass through less painfully.”
While the right side stomach ache is a good indicator, a blood test and cat scan is often ordered for further confirmation. The scan can show both the size and location of the stone. If there is no sign of infection, the patients go home with medication and instructions to increase their water intake. They are also advised to use a strainer to catch and save the kidney stone, which can then be sent for analysis. Certain foods may then be proscribed to diminish the likelihood that more kidney stones are produced.
Aldous Huxley was so taken with the capabilities of the human kidneys that he felt compelled to utter the following words:
The kidneys are so beautifully organized; they do their work of regulation with such a miraculous–it’s hard to find another word–such a positively divine precision, such knowledge and wisdom, that there is no reason why our archetypal man, whoever he is, or anyone else, for that matter, should be ashamed to own a pair.
Right Side Hip Pain – Treating Arthritis
Phillip’s right side hip pain is caused by arthritis. Because arthritis is so widespread, it gets a lot of attention from all of us – from the average person to the health professional. Some experts believe that arthritis was first introduced by a strain of virus some two centuries ago.
However, other experts have found conclusive evidence of arthritis in ancient Egyptian mummies. Whether the right time length is two centuries or four millennia, arthritis does seem to be age-related. We are clearly more prone to have it the older we get. We have therefore come to regard arthritis as a degenerative disease.
This by no means, means that arthritis is inevitable. “But why should we have to take natural hormone creams and supplements?” my clients often ask. “Our ancestors didn’t take them, and arthritis wasn’t nearly as prevalent in times past.”
The simple fact is that most of our ancestors didn’t live to the ripe, old, healthy ages we do nowadays. They died younger and were worn out earlier – while we go on playing golf and tennis into our 70s and beyond. We live longer now, and want to enjoy ourselves more. So why suffer – unnecessarily – the aching joints and low energy of arthritis?
Phillip was in his early 30s when he began experiencing right side hip pain and he didn’t want to be on prescription medicines for the rest of his life, so he went in search of alternatives.
Her are four ways to possibly diminish or get rid of arthritis pain:
1. Soothex: It’s a base of olive oil that’s infused with anti-inflammatory herbs. Rub Soothex topically wherever you have ache and it takes the soreness away, reduces swelling, and directly introduces healing oxygen to the joints and tissues. Soothex has no known negative side effects.
2. Oil of Oregano: This herbal healer works on the same principles as Soothex, but more mildly. It also is a completely natural antibiotic, and is antiviral and antifungal, and gives a great boost to the immune system. With such intense healing properties, both Soothex and Oil of Oregano are a far cry from many commercial products that often offer mere numbing and heating effects.
3. Natural progesterone creams – These creams – such as Prosperin for women and Prosperon for men – naturally balance the hormones whose imbalance is the origin of so many stresses and bad sensations that can plague us in our middle age and senior years.
4. A natural healthy diet with lots of veggies and not too much animal protein. If you like red meats then go organic – you’ll be cutting out a lot of artificial animal hormones that can play havoc with your health and well-being.
