Lower Right Back Pain
Lower right back pain
Lower right back pain is not pleasant at all and can be caused from several different strenuous activities.
Here’s an example:
When a young novice working out in the gym for the first time starts out with a routine including the bench press, arm curls, crunches, and bent-over rowing—all without consulting his trainer or instructor—he will most likely have soreness all over his body after the workout. Even worse, he may suffer from muscle or tendon strain from overdoing his work-out program. Starting out slowly and gradually increasing the routine is a better way to go.
A strain is a stretching or tearing of muscle that often occurs when muscles suddenly and powerfully contract — or when a muscle stretches unusually far. This is called an acute strain. Overuse of certain muscles can lead to a chronic (reoccurring or long lasting) strain. The most common of these type ailments are hamstring and back injuries, which can present as lower right back pain for example. Some people commonly call muscle strains “pulled” muscles.
For a strain, you should seek medical help immediately if the area becomes swollen and is intensely painful, or if you suspect a ruptured muscle, broken bone or other serious damage. Mild sprains and strains usually heal quickly with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (R.I.C.E.).
Often times, self-care measures and over-the-counter pain medications, such as muscle relaxants, are all that you’ll need for a healthy recovery with manageable discomfort. Muscle relaxants are usually prescribed along with rest, exercise, physical therapy and other treatments.
Although the drugs may provide relief, they should never be considered a substitute for these other forms of treatment. Drugs may make the injury feel so much better that you are tempted to go back to normal activity, but doing too much too soon can actually make the injury worse.
Remember, take it slowly and gradually increase activity as your body allows without discomfort and further damage. Allow that lower right back pain to subside before hitting the weights again.
